The Council serves as the coordinating body of Presbytery. The Council shall coordinate the mission and program of the Presbytery as planned and conducted by the various committees. It directs, coordinates and promotes the programmatic work of the Presbytery.

COMMITTEE ON CARE OF CHURCH PROFESSIONALS The Committee will work in conversation and consultation with the Committee on Ministry as it seeks to fulfill the responsibility the Presbytery is given by the Book of Order for pastoral oversight of church professionals and their families. The essential question that will constantly remain before the committee is this: “What can we do to support and enhance the ministries of the various church professionals in Savannah Presbytery?” The annual work of the committee should be framed by the constant reflection on this question.

The committee shall have the authority to find in order calls issued by churches, to approve and present calls (BO: G-14.0507), to approve the examination of ministers transferring from other presbyteries required by BO: G-11.0402, to dissolve the pastoral relationship in cases where the congregation and pastor concur (BO: G-14.0603) and to dismiss ministers to other presbyteries, with the provision that all such actions be reported to the next stated meeting of Presbytery

PENTECOST ECOLOGY FUND COMMITTEE The committee shall have responsibility for Presbytery work in the following areas: Overseeing and administering of the MK Pentecost Memorial Fund; Evaluating and approving or disapproving of requests for grants from revenue produced by the MK Pentecost Memorial Fund; Reporting to Savannah Presbytery on the disposition of funds produced by the MK Pentecost Memorial Fund at least on an annual basis. |

SELF-DEVELOPMENT OF PEOPLE The committee shall have responsibility for Presbytery work in the following areas: Serve as the link between Savannah Presbytery and the Self-Development of People Committee of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.); Review proposals submitted by organized groups of disadvantaged person within our bounds; Operate with the guidelines of the National Committee on the Self-Development of People as to process, procedures, criteria and evaluation; Serve as interpreter for those wishing to use the sdop process; |

The committee shall have responsibility for Presbytery work in such areas as: Peacemaking; Hunger; Prison Ministry; Migrant Ministry; Older Adult Ministry; Support Presbyterian Homes through the promotion of funding and partnership with the churches throughout the Presbytery; Serve as liaison with Swainsboro Presbyterian Apartments; Propose to Presbytery ministries with older adults; Promote partnership with Presbytery, Synod And General Assembly in ministry with older adults; Substance Abuse - Promote and coordinate events to combat drug abuse with the Synod of South Atlantic and the General Assembly and support churches in their effort to combat drug abuse problems. Recommend responsible use of Savannah Presbytery's portion of funds received in the “One Great Hour of Sharing”. |
