I have been asked several times in the last few weeks about my vision for Savannah Presbytery. My reply has been consistent. As I shared with everyone at the May meeting, my personal vision is to enhance the connected nature of our faith communities here in southeast Georgia. To that end however, the wish I have for each of us individually, is to reclaim our enthusiasm for ministry even in these challenging days as we continue to navigate in a world of Covid.
Speaking of vision, do you know what the mission and vision of our presbytery is all about?
The mission of Savannah Presbytery is to engage, encourage, and resource congregations and members of the presbytery as together we serve Jesus Christ, so that we strengthen the church, equip the saints for ministry and reach beyond ourselves.
Our vision is for each congregation and member of the presbytery to be vital in ministry, supported in meeting existing and emerging needs, and connected in Christ-like ways for shared mission, all to the glory of God.
By the end of August, I will have reached out to ALL of our congregations with specific questions in regard to our relationships, shared mission, and broader participation in the life of the presbytery.
I covet your prayers as I continue to work with our churches who are in transition or in times of crisis. I am very excited about my recent work with the St. Simons church as they have begun the process of calling a new senior pastor by electing a Pastoral Nominating Committee and beginning a self-study. Please continue to pray for members of Christ Church, Pooler, in the upcoming dissolution of this congregation, remembering that God’s promised presence is not bound by space or time. While we may grieve the loss of this community of faith, the occasion calls for thanksgiving for God’s gracious gifts, past, present, and future.
Blessings,
Director of Pastoral and Ecclesial Affairs
