Tasks, expectations, duties, supervision, assignments, and responsibilities for the position

  1. The session and congregation will support the Pastor’s efforts to present the good news of Jesus Christ clearly and convincingly to all.

  2. The Pastor will lead worship services that are informed by Reformed/Presbyterian tradition and in keeping with the Directory of Worship of The Book of Order.

  3. The Pastor will focus primary attention upon sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through preaching and teaching the Word, administering the sacraments, and managing the daily operations of the church.

  4. The Pastor and session will make discipleship a priority and will support each other in the task of implementing a ministry that enables the congregation to follow Jesus Christ in our community and in the world

  5. The Pastor will collaborate with staff members, the session, and the congregation to develop and maintain a relevant educational ministry for our congregation and our community.

  6. The session and congregation will share the task of evangelism with the Pastor, knowing that Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit may lead others to believe in God and seek the fellowship of the church.

  7. The Pastor will seek to lead other members of the church staff and session, fostering a climate of shared leadership so that staff and church members can use their gifts and skills in the service of God.

  8. The Pastor will lead the staff to establish and pursue priorities of their work in the church. The Pastor, as head of staff, will consult with the Administrative Committee and will administer session-approved policies governing staff.

  9. The Pastor will work with the Congregational Care Committee to address the individual needs of our church community.

  10. The Pastor will participate in the life of our local community, participate in ecumenical worship in conjunction with the Statesboro Ministerial Association, and serve as a faithful presbyter.

    The Associate Pastor for Congregational Life and Spiritual Formation serves as a key pastoral leader, supporting and advancing the church’s vision and mission through oversight of spiritual education, intergenerational formation, and the vibrant life of the congregation. This role supervises program staff and collaborates with clergy, staff, Session, and lay leaders to cultivate a spiritually rich, connected, and faithful community. With a heart for formation and a gift for leadership, the Associate Pastor ensures that the church’s ministries of learning, fellowship, and care are grounded in grace, inclusion, and 
    growth in Christ.

    The Pastor is responsible for:

    Preparation/implementation of all worship services approved by the Session.

    Visit all members of the congregation as needed as well as performing baptisms, funerals, and weddings for members.

    Moderate Session and congregational meetings.

    Work with the Session and its committees towards growth.

    Work with the leaders and potential leaders of the congregation to continue to develop their leadership skills.

    Expand fellowship through new groups and more activities.

    Expand the Christian Education program.

    Expand outreach programs to the local community.

    Supervise and coordinate church staff

    Coordinate ministry programs, ensure continuity of operations and effective communications.

    Encourage participation in the Presbytery of Savannah.

    Preaches and teaches the Word of God.

     

    1. Provides spiritual leadership and administrative oversight of the Church’s ministries, including worship, music, preaching, teaching, supporting mission outreach, stewardship, and fellowship.
    2. Manages and works with staff in a collaborative and supportive way.
    3. Provides pastoral visitation and offers limited pastoral counseling with the ability to refer for more involved counseling.
    4. Supports community outreach in fulfilling the goal of the Church as “The Servant Church in the City.”
    5. Performs baptisms, communion, weddings and funerals.
    6. Supports all committees of the Church.
    7. Prepares confirmands for Confirmation.
    8. Assists in the orientation of prospective new members.
    9. Moderates the Session and acts as the Church’s liaison to the Presbytery.
    10. Be actively involved in the complete life of the congregation.

    Lead Vocalist - Skidaway Community Church

    Seeking Lead Vocalist – Skidaway Community Church

    Skidaway Community Church is seeking a Lead Vocalist to join our growing and welcoming music ministry. The ideal candidate will be a confident sight reader with a love for both traditional hymns and modern worship music.

    Details:
    Compensation: $100 per event
    Responsibilities: Lead congregational singing and support the Skidaway Singers in rehearsals and worship services
    Requirements: Strong vocal ability, reliable musicianship, and a collaborative spirit

    Schedule: Sunday mornings (9–11 am) and occasional special services as needed

    Position Summary
    Skidaway Community Church seeks a talented Lead Vocalist to support the congregation’s worship life through exceptional musicianship and a passion for church music. The Lead Singer will collaborate with the Music Director and other volunteer musicians to provide music for weekly services and special events, representing the church’s commitment to both traditional sacred music and modern worship styles.

    Key Responsibilities
    Lead congregational singing during worship services
    Serve as a vocal leader with the Skidaway Singers, a mixed-voice ensemble of approximately 12 singers
    Sight-read vocal music accurately and efficiently
    Participate in occasional special services as requested (weddings, funerals, mid-week services)
    Demonstrate professionalism and a cooperative spirit in rehearsals and performances

    Qualifications
    Strong vocal ability and experience in solo and ensemble singing
    Proficient sight reader
    Comfortable performing traditional and modern church music
    Dependable and responsive to scheduling and communication
