New Testament Survey: Read as much of the New Testament as possible before the course from a good study Bible (NRSV/NRSVUE are good options). Alongside the Biblical text, the recommended text is Charles B. Cousar, An Introduction to the New Testament: Witnesses to God’s New Work (Louisville, Ky.: Westminster John Knox Press, 2006).

Essential Elements of Worship: Participants are required to read A More Profound Alleluia; Theology and Worship in Harmony by Leanne Van Dyk.

Sermon on the Mount; A Vision of Radical Discipleship and Alternative Community: Read Matthew 5–7 carefully and make notes on thoughts and questions that arise. Obtain & read Sermon on the Mount: A Beginner’s Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven by Amy-Jill Levine (Abingdon Press, 2020).
